Seattle Heating Oil to Heat Pump Conversion Incentives & Credits

The Basics
The City of Seattle is currently offering a multi-tiered incentive program for homeowners to switch from heating oil to electric heat pumps. The city has set a goal to convert all homes with heating oil (8k-10k) to energy efficient heat pumps.
The base rebate is $2,000 and applies to all homes. By combining this with the federal tax rebate of $2,000, customers can expect an overall incentive of $4,000.
Bonus rebates
Beginning September 1st, 2024, the city is offering an additional $4,000 rebate to moderate income homes. This is currently defined as total household earnings between 81% and 150% of the area median income. Below is a chart outlining the thresholds.
